Other names: Spotted-sided Finch, Diamond Sparrow, Diamond.

Distribution: South eastern Australia – inland from Rockhampton down and around to the Eyre Peninsula and Kangaroo Island in South Australia.

Habitat: Open scrub and heath lands, occasionally parks and gardens.

Aviary Habits: Big bright bird larger than most other Australian finches. Can be pugnacious but very popular.
